CCTV footage of 2AM Im Seulong's fatal accident is raising further suspicions.
In an exclusive report by Joongang Ilbo, CCTV footage of the accident shows a man A wearing black clothes crossing the street with an umbrella. A crossed the street on a red light at a crosswalk in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul at 11:50pm on the 1st.
Seulong's white SUV hits the man A in two seconds as he made a turn on the road. A could be seen discovering the approaching car and tried to run to avoid it.
A was rushed to a nearby hospital but died soon afterwards. At the time of the accident, Im Seulong was found not to have been under the influence of alcohol.
Seeing this, netizens stated, "It's possible that the jaywalker didn't just pop out of nowhere. There's a high chance Im Seulong wasn't watching the road." "The car seemed to be at high speed, he should've slowed down and been more careful since pedestrians take priority on the road."
Other netizens defended him stating, "You can't see well on a rainy road until you get close." The fault is on the jaywalker for crossing the road on a rainy day without checking surroundings first."
Police will determine the ratio of negligence and punishment by checking Im Seulong's speed at the time of the accident and the road conditions.
- [+11,156, -79] I'm a man in my 50s and have no intention of trying to defend Im Seulong at all. Just wanted to point out that it's illegal for a pedestrian to cross a traffic signal when it's red. What kind of negligence can they apply on the driver? If they're trying to pin the fault on him they'll need to overhaul the traffic law.
- [+6,585, -383] He shouldn't have crossed the road at all during a red light. If an accident happens because you ignored a red light then its not driver's fault. How is this his fault when he ignored the red light? A lot of old people do this to cause an accident as a way to make money through an insurance grab. This isn't the driver's fault at all unless he was drinking.
- [+3,671, 164] Why does it matter whether he was speeding or not paying attention. Isn't the primary fault on the jaywalker for violating traffic law in the first place? It's unfortunate he passed away but the driver is pitiful too
- [+2,320, -182] It's a bit much to place blame on the driver for not paying attention when it was raining heavily..
- [+1,698, -166] Even if he had slowed down, there's no way he could've avoided the collision. It was dark, rainy and he was wearing black clothes while jaywalking ignoring a red light. I hope he's able to rest in peace.

- [+475, -16] Jaywalking in black at 11:50pm on a rainy day..crazy
- [+347, -26] I can barely see the road lines when it's raining..
